
CONSTRUCTING LOCAL THEOLOGIES - P002915
Purpose of the course:
This course is equipping pastors and community leaders with the tools to construct local theologies that are connected with personal, congregational / organisational and community transformation, against the background of different expressions of contextual theology.
Minimum Admission Requirements:
Church and community leaders with a desire to develop tools to reflect theologically on their practice of ministry and to construct local theologies, with Grade 10 and a local ministry context as basic requirement.
Structure and duration of the course:
Three full days, with an assignment due after the course.

COURSE CONTENT:

Module 1: Understanding and practising contextual methods of theology.

Module 2: Exploring the importance of a contextual approach.

Module 3: Introducing examples of contextual theologies such as liberation, feminist, black, womanist, urban, and other such theologies, in order to formulate critical appreciation, and to integrate new insights into theological development.

Module 4: Tools to construct, design and develop local theologies, in response to local contexts, rooted in sound analysis and theological reflection, in conversation with global and local social movement, and focusing on personal, congregational/ organisational and community transformation.
