
COUNSELLING FOR BEGINNERS

Purpose of the course:
This course is designed to introduce participants to basic concepts of Biblical counselling, the ethics of counselling, and the person of a counsellor, providing a basic but good foundation on which to build.
Minimum Admission Requirements:
The general public, but particularly lay counsellors, those in the helping professions, and those involved in positions often requiring of them to listen to the challenges and problems people are facing.

Online course with monthly possibilities for online interaction.

COURSE CONTENT:

Module 1: A basic understanding of Biblical counselling.

Module 2: Conversational skills, particularly for the counselling context.

Module 3: Skills to understand and employ the Bible in the counselling context.

Module 4: Clear guidelines as to the role of a counselling companion.

Module 5: Ethics of counselling, boundaries and appropriate referrals.

Module 6: Clear guidelines about referrals, networks and other resources.
