Purpose of the course:
To enable pastors and other counsellors to deal with the process of recovery and healing after a traumatic experience. We live in a traumatised society and the church and/or the pastoral counsellor is often the only immediate or available resource for support and guidance.
Minimum Admission Requirements:
Any person with a grade 12 who is interested and/or involved in addressing individual and community trauma.

The course is offered over three full days.

COURSE CONTENT:

Module 1: Understanding the nature and impact of trauma.

Module 2: Weaving stories of trauma.

Module 3: Understanding the impact of crisis and trauma on the individual and family.

Module 4: Trauma Counselling.

Module 5: Describing and implementing trauma counselling.

Module 6: Defusing and debriefing.

Module 7: Post-traumatic stress disorder.

Module 8: Finding meaning in trauma - Care for the caregiver.

Module 9: Keep the fire burning - A program for caregiver restoration.
