Purpose of the course:
This course equips community and church leaders involved and/or interested in community transformation with a basic introduction to community development and transformation and an overview of the different approaches and tools to develop a reflective praxis.
Minimum Admission Requirements:
Community and church leaders, and people involved with community transformation processes, who have Grade 10. The format can be adjusted to the specific needs of a particular group or organisation.

Three full contact days.

COURSE CONTENT

Module 1: A basic introduction to community development.

Module 2: Understanding strategies for community transformation.

Module 3: An overview of different approaches to community development.

Module 4: Tools to develop a reflective praxis.

Module 5: An understanding of the praxis cycle and how to use it practically.

Module 6: Tools to develop an alternative imagination for communities.

Module 7: An understanding of the role and person of the community development practitioner.

Module 8: An understanding of sustainable communities.

Module 9: Visions of new tables.

Module 10: The ability to translate visions into practical plans for action.
